A Year in Review - 2019
Success is not measured in any one particular way, for some people success is reaching their professional or personal goals. For others, success can be measured in friendships and new relationships being made. For us at LEAP success has been measured in the number of lives we have impacted, in big or small ways. As we close this year, we want to share our success of reaching new goals, of meeting new people, making new friends, and of creating new opportunities.
Here are some of the ways we feel we have been successful in 2019...
PRIDE Parade
We thank our Command Staff and Chief Art Acevedo for always supporting our LGBT community and being not only present but also enjoy the event with us! This year we had record attendance, we can only hope for a better 2020!
Astros Game Day
Our first ever Family Game Day was a hard to follow. We had great company of friends and family and good food! We cannot wait to see what's in store for next year!
Unity Banquet
Even if you've never been to an event like this, you could feel the community support as you walked through the door. We hope that we can show our appreciation and support every year through our attendance.
SPRY Events
We partnered up with The Montrose Center to share memories with our seniors involved in Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years. We've met some wonderful people and enjoyed some games of dominoes and puzzles. We will be back for more fun in 2020!
Houston LGBT Chamber Events
We have been invited to several events with the Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce through out HPD Liaisons, including their 9-11 Hero Breakfast and Holiday Party at Potino's Restaurant. We love to share memories with them and we hope we can continue to be part of their community.
Holiday Celebrations
This year we gathered to celebrate the holidays while wrapping presents for our Seniors! We delivered over 20 presents to SPRY and were able to capture some of the smiles and surprised faces.
